Robot - DCWN84

software

3D Studio Max, Vray

For this task we first had to create a robot in 2D, all styles were authorized but the robot was supposed to have a "humanoid" look (1 head, 2 arms and 2 legs). I took my inspiration in the Grendizer manga series. Then we had to use our 2D model sheets to model the robot in 3D, with a result as close to the 2D designs as possible.
Thanks to my young (childish?) mind I've decided to make that robot as a toy and create a children bedroom scene so it can fit in there, inclusive an awesome skateboard deck home

design. What's important to note on the robot is that there is nothing of rig for the body, to pose the robots all the (separate) elements were linked to each other. For example you had to move the shoulder first, then the arm and then the wrist to get this arm correctly, that's off course a very idiot way to animate a character. Later I discovered the wonderful world of rig's and IK's what would have been very useful on this project.
